Is this because they are not content? Is it to validate themselves in someway? Is it merely entertainment?

I am not ms goodie goodie either. I have engaged in mild flirtations with friends but I only did it when they start and I respond back. Usually its something funny and we never get too sexual and as soon as it gets too far I actually back off or express that I am not comfortable.
How do you approach this?Why do men/women flirt when in a serious relationship?
