You can't get by in this instance with ';Hi, my name is.... ';, or tell me about yourself, etc... B/c you are already friends with this person and have been for some time. Tell him how you feel. If it be a card in flowers, a note to meet for dinner, or a call to meet in the park. Tell him. You are friends, and this is something you should not hold inside. Let him know how you feel. When you do this, however, be prepared for any answer, not just what you want to hear. Telling someone how you feel when they have no clue you feel the way you do is hard. And can put egg on your face quickly. It also instantly tells you the type of person you are dealing with. If you hold this in, it will eat at you until you are miserable, and he will still be dating.How do you flirt with a man that you've known for years and you know he is interested?
Say something like ';Soooo what are we going to do tonight....'; or ';Soooo, where are you going to take me tonight...';. That always did it for me.......
Ask him to have lunch with you. Take it from there. Give him some signs.
Tell him he looks nice today. Ask if he is losing weight. If he smells good, tell him so. Smile a little extra, the next time you see him. Ask him out for coffee. Make a point of being where he's at....without him knowing you did it on purpose, of course.
Easy. DON'T FLIRT. Men hate playing games. They like a woman who is real and so confident with who she is that she can ask him out. If you know he is interested why waste your time flirting. Ask if he wants to go out for a bite to eat. Take it slow and have fun; assuming this guy is single and not currently in a relationship. Remember you have an advantage, you've known him longer. when you see each other hold your initial stare a couple extra seconds while smiling. also, while talking move your eyes from his face to up and down his body, while smiling. When speaking with him, make a point to put your hand on his arm or shoulder. He'' catch on real quick.
Perhaps asking him out for coffee would be a good start. Otherwise, consider engaging in some small talk, ';What did you do this weekend?'; or some such thing.
